Article by Andy Orton, Founder of DotPerformance
I think the team thought I’d lost it when I decided to in-source video production. Building a crew of camera operators and editors? Ambitious. Then came the studio—complete with live production gear, podcast equipment, and fully kitted-out interview sets. Alongside that came the fascination and series of investments in Cinematic FPV Drones with huge cinema camera's strapped to the top flying in close proximity at speeds in excess of 100mph. Yep it took a while for everyone to see the vision.
But once I explained how this was all about transforming our clients’ brands, it clicked. Video is more than just visuals; it’s about brand authenticity, social media domination, and turning stories into entertainment that shifts perceptions about a brand or organisation.
The Brand Angle
Most filmmakers dream of telling epic narratives—sci-fi, fantasy, the whole Hollywood deal. Sure, we love that too, but we focus on helping brands tell their story. Why? Because too many businesses were stuck producing boring, forgettable corporate videos no one wanted to watch.
Now? We’re creating content that feels authentic, entertaining enough to rack up hundreds of thousands—sometimes millions—of views. It’s storytelling designed to resonate, whether the audience realises it or not. Clever, right?
Beyond Content
Our videos aren’t just content, they are immaculately produced to create emotional connections, drive engagement, and shift how people see our clients’ brands. It’s about creating something people want to watch, share, and remember—all while quietly serving brand goals in the background.
That’s why we built the team and the studio. Because when video is done right, it doesn’t just tell a story—it transforms a brand.
Hello Cinema, Hello Netflix, Hello Prime
Ever wondered why we’re holding monster cinema cameras instead of the DSLRs most videographers use? Simple: we’re aiming higher. Just like everything we do at DotPerformance, we’re always pushing for the best—for us and for you.
When you film with us, you’ll see we use Netflix-approved 12K cinema cameras paired with the best lenses we can afford. Why? Because we’re not just making social media clips; we’re stepping into feature-length documentaries, the theatre, and major streaming platforms. We’re here to broaden your reach in every way possible.
If we don't make you feel something, it isn't ready yet
When we present a production, we’re really looking for an emotional response, smile, laugh, cry, jump...
Because at the end of the day, video isn’t just about looking good. It’s about making you feel something.
What we offer to brands
Our ideal is when we're engaged on a regular basis. This gives us the opportunity to really explore what is working well and adapt the strategy to suit. It also builds continual brand awareness for our client and the numbers over a year are incredible. For example:
- Garforth Gray
If you live on the island you'll have seen its regular property tours with our very own presenter Beth Espey. These are highly produced multi-camera operations including aerial, produced to awe inspire their audience. - The TT Marshals
This video series reached over 1 million views in 2024 across the TT and the MGP, shifting perceptions of what marshalling is and helping to recruit more marshals. - Conister Bank
From their Clarkson inspired farm adventure to their Chris Boardman inspired active travel race, through to the Bee project at the Children's Centre, Conister is genuinely involved in the Isle of Man community and it wants to showcase its community work whilst also boosting the charity's and markets it supports. - Summit Grappling Academy
This is a documentary that's heading to the world's largest streaming sites, documenting one man's mission to grow a jiu-jitsu academy into world beating athletes. If you want an insight into capturing the feeling around a brand, this is well worth your time.
